Must Have Travel Accessories and Gadgets

Many times when we pack, we can’t stop thinking “what did I forget”. There are many things to think about especially if you travel to a very different country on the other side of the world, you have to worry about the right electricity sockets for example.

As an experienced traveler, I compiled a list of travel accessories and gadgets that you might find handy when traveling. I recommend printing it and making checkmarks while you pack, so you can be sure that you packed everything.

Clothes and Footwear

  • slippers (for hotel, apartment, etc)
  • swimwear
  • beach towel
  • underwear
  • socks
  • shirt
  • sweater
  • jeans/pants/shirt
  • shorts
  • jacket
  • shoes/flip flops/sandals/sneakers
  • pajamas
  • hat/gloves

Hand Luggage

  • small backpack
  • small purse or fanny pack for documents and money
  • reading litterature (for long flight or ride)
  • pen and paper (you never know when you might need it)
  • cell phone and charger
  • dictionary (its good to learn some basic phrases)
  • camera
  • sun glases and casing
  • reading glasses
  • umrella or raincoat
  • Ipod, MP3 player, or some other music playe
  • backup charger
  • desinfecting gel
  • tissues
  • wet tissues
  • medicines
  • gums, energy bars
  • water
  • thermos
  • bandadge


  • passport (check the expiery date)
  • travel documents, vouchers, boarding passes
  • drivers licence (make sure if you need an international one)
  • credit cards (best to take only one that is accepted worldwide)
  • money (make sure to take smaller notes and divide it in several different places)
  • copy of travel documents (best to scan it and send it to your own email)
  • copy of personal documents (passport, ID, drivers licence, health insurance card, travel insurance)
  • travel insurance
  • write the name address and contact details on your luggage in case it gets lost


  • toothbrush
  • toothpaste
  • lotion
  • face cream
  • face clean products
  • shawing kit
  • deodorant
  • parfume
  • hair and body shampoo
  • depilation set
  • sun cream
  • insect repelant
  • tampons (for ladies)


  • power adapter (some countries have different power sockets so always have a universal power adapter with you)
  • extra reading glasses or contacts
  • contact lens solutions
  • bateries for camera
  • neck pillow for travel
  • bags to put away dirty clothes
  • spare keys (of house or car)
  • city map
  •  reusable water bottle

This is my basic checklist for travels which I always use to check if I packed everything. Feel free to add your own items in case I missed something, and alwyas remember to double check!
